After a career as a teacher and travel guide my passion for mental health was ignited.
After dealing first hand with school refusal, unhappy and dysregulated kids who can't learn properly, I wanted to help them develop the emotional regulation to enable them to reach their full potential. This led me to a Masters in counselling where I studied trauma and how adverse childhood experiences inhibit growth and the ability to learn.
Initially I worked as a school counsellor with both adolescents and children and their families.
I then worked in community settings with a wide range of clients with complex needs, including those dealing with addictions, homelessness, despair and trauma.
I have also worked with a diverse range of couples with various identities.
The Blue Gate is LGBTQI+ friendly.
Whatever journey you are on, I can help you navigate a way forward. Before we commit to the therapeutic relationship together, we will meet for a free consultation to ensure we are clear about our counselling goals. Counselling works best it's when clearly defined and not too open-ended.
